Seven Times is a Charm: Sword & Shield Makes Inc. 5000 List Again

Inc 5000 AwardSword & Shield Enterprise Security, Inc. has moved up to No. 1375 on the 2012 Inc. 500/5000, besting the company’s No. 1609 showing last year.

This makes the seventh consecutive year Sword & Shield has appeared on the list.

The company posted revenue of more than $142 million and a three-year growth rate of 222 percent in 2011. Sword & Shield first appeared on the list at No. 214 in 2006. In 2007, the company was ranked at 426, at 563 in 2008 and at 3,647 in 2009.

Inc.com, the online arm of Inc. magazine, announced its annual ranking of the 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the country this week.

The 2012 Inc. 500|5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2008 to 2011. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2008. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2011.
